Meet Sam the Pilot Vehicle Driver
Q: What are the key things that are important to you when driving a pilot vehicle?
Above everything is comfort. My office is my pilot vehicle. I am in it all day. As my back is not too good nowadays, having one which I can stretch back and relax is important for me.
Q: What about long hauls?
The key is whether I can sleep in it or not. Some jobs, like transporting houses, can span over several nights. Sleeping in the front seat does not work for me. Driving slowly as can be, I need to be able to stay alert and awake on the job. A Panel Van where I can lay down without bending is essential. I sleep better, and I am more alert throughout the day.
